About Red Lion & Sun
Upscale local with a a shady garden and gastro menu featuring hog roasts from spring until autumn.
Pub built in 1920s Elizabethan style, pleasantly located with seating areas on three sides of the bar. The interior is of the same period, with paneled walls painted light green, a cast iron stove and a carved back-bar facing the street. Decoration consists of old prints, drawings and photographs, plus a collection of china dogs and toby jugs. Guest beers might come from house brewer, Greene King or may be from other breweries. Another of the pubs where the ceremony of the 'Swearing of the Horns' takes place twice a year. In the winter there is a log fire in one of the fireplaces. Buses: 143 pass the door. 263 terminates in Highgate Village nearby.

Had a fantastic boozy lunch with friends on Saturday. What a lovely pub! We shared burrata with tomatoes, oysters, beef rib and milk fed lamb. Heath then treated us to a selection of his soft serve ice cream. Washed down with a great selection of wines from their extensive wine list. We will definitely be back. Thanks Heath and team. It was great to meet you. 😊

Amazing food!!! Really enjoyed the burger and fried chicken wings. I would highly recommend it if you’re looking for a delicious meal. The cocktails are also quite good, we really enjoyed the Palomas. The only thing I would improve is the ambiance. Some better and louder background music is needed as the space at the back is quite small. Having 1 or 2 loud tables is enough to disrupt everyone and make it very uncomfortable.

What a lovely gastropub, slightly off the beaten path, but well worth the walk if you're in the Highgate area. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was fantastic (the chicken curry a revelation for a gastro), and the drinks menu far more extensive than you'd expect! We sat outside and enjoyed seating in the lovely canopied suntrap that is their front courtyard, the atmosphere was ambient and warm, and it's a very dog friendly spot, which added to the charm. We'll be back!

Not sure what the hype about the Sunday roast is. Pretty bog standard, not bad but not sure worth the price tag (£27/pax, we got the beef for 3 pax). Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream was good.

Eaten here multiple times including their Sunday roast. Best place the area for food and always great atmosphere and great service. I particular love the thoughtful sourcing of ingredients. I was excited to see an English sparkling on their menu also.
