About Shortlands Tavern

Vintage bric-a-brac dots the garden of this cosy pub offering classic fare, plus live music nights.

Popular with the local community, this pub was much improved following renovation in 2012. The cosy atmosphere is enhanced by a real fire in winter.

There are two regular cask ales, supplemented by four other handpumps serving a changing range of cask ales, mainly from non-mainstream breweries.

The many activities include comedy nights, live music, a book club, a knitting group, painting classes as well as quiz and bingo evenings. The pub also has a range of board games. Over 18s only after 8 pm.

Local CAMRA branch runner-up Pub of the Year 2014 and 2015.

Traditional public house close to convenient transport links. Friendly & professional staff. Good selection of real ales. Clean & welcoming interior. Food looked excellent, I must come back to sample the menu (& drink) here again soon.

15 pound chicken burger, Was as big as chip… also the bun was burnt . When I asked to change they couldn’t help and said it would be the same size . Normally the food is decent but today was pony. Pubs going downhill . The food was like weather spoons . Prices are a joke .6.50 for a pint . Wont be coming back here for a while

Excellent Sunday roast - both the beef and vegan options were great. Very dog and family friendly ( probably 1/3 of tables had dogs and 1/3 were families). Great service from friendly staff. Two of our group used to manage pubs and they were suitably impressed. Positive experience and good value.

We ordered the beef and chicken burger and the buns were burnt! We couldn’t even finish them as they tasted charred. I did give feedback to the staff as well. They were unapologetic

Used to be a frequent customer here but hadn’t been in about 6 months and the standard of food and service was excellent. Went back the other day and the quality and prices were shocking. £17 for a Caesar salad that was just a heap of lettuce with some mayo on it! Over £7 for a pint of neck oil ( cheaper in my local work pub in Belgravia!!!) Lady behind the bar didn’t smile or want to engage in any sort of conversation other than take our order. Such a shame for what was a once excellent pub!
