About Star

Close to Plumstead Common in the area known locally as "Birds Nest Hollow", this friendly pub is an uphill climb from the town centre. It remains one of London's Real Heritage Pubs, however, during the refurbishment of 2019 a rare screen, barely over head height that split the two bars fronting Jago Close, was sadly removed. The saloon bar on the left is contemporary with its inter-war rebuilding and remains largely as it was. In bygone days, when Woolwich Arsenal played its football matches on the common, the team used the Star as its changing room. Pizza based food menu has been introduced. One of the 5 Plumstead Common Idlers being the Star that never shone. 4 handpumps, sometimes a cider like Westons Old Rosie is sold.

Lovely pub with fantastic food and service. The pizzas are great value for money as the portions are really big. The frozen margaritas were also very good. The service was friendly, fast and attentive - our server Gracie was a particular standout. We will be back soon!

Lovely folks that work and manage the pub, especially since re-ownership from a few years ago. There's a big effort to make this a local and community based hub for locals which is really nice. Food is fab, soft & alcoholic drinks are always on par. The only feedback on this front is to spend time advertising for community events and socials outside of social media and maybe collaboration with other local communities and initiatives that are going on to raise awareness 🙂

Lovely pub, amazing food and top service. Pool table upstairs was decent enough but I was surprised at how quiet it was downstairs for a saturday night. Would definatley visit again though 👌🍻

Had an amazing roast dinner on Sunday, food was absolutely lovely. We had the pork belly and the portion was amazing and presentation was great. Would definitely go back again.

Fantastic pub! Good food with lots of gluten free options. The staff are wonderful and Paris was great in spite of my merciless banter at her expense. Max was also brilliant! 😊
