About Two Chairmen
18th-century pub with original beams, fireplaces, a wall mural and leaded glass windows.
Cosy little back street pub, rebuilt in 1756, featuring unusual bench seating and an 18th century mural on the rear wall; the name, of course, derives from Georgian sedan chairmen. Facing historic Queen Anne’s Gate and close to St James’s Park, but a little off the tourist trail. It is popular with civil servants who work locally, particularly from the Treasury after major fiscal announcements.
The six handpumps sometimes include a cider. The upstairs bar is available for private hire.

Visited the Two Chairman for work Christmas dinner, and we were very pleased we chose this venue. The food was amazing and the staff were excellent. A very friendly establishment, nicely decorated for Christmas, which added to such a warm atmosphere.

Great pub with a local vibe. Two chairmen and an excellent selection of beer and ciders and the bartender was more than willing to discuss the different options available. The menu had a bit more selection than some pubs, there was a mix of classic pub fare along with more contemporary options. We had the salmon cheddar fish cakes, chicken ranch bacon sandwich, and the steak and ale pie. All were very good.

I like these London pubs that are down an alley or off a main street so they don’t get as much tourist foot traffic. The beer was decent, I had the Chairmen’s Favourite Ale, and the atmosphere was nice. Toilets were clean.

While in London from Orlando, FL, my wife and I visited this Pub off the beaten path. Enjoyed that it was NOT a tourist spot and offered authentic British food. Good service and environment.
