About Woodman

Stylish gastropub with oil paintings and sofas serving seasonal British cuisine plus a garden.

Upmarket food oriented pub in modern style, with very small 'snug' area at one end retaining old style feeling. The large outside drinking area on Highgate Woods side is very popular in summer and, like the pub itself, features waiter service. Can become very busy in the evenings. They open at 9.30am for "bottomless brunch".

The interior walls are decorated with rather impressionistic modern art. Quiz every Monday night. Live jazz every Tuesday night featuring some of the UK's top jazz session musicians (all have played at Ronnie Scott's). A function room is available at the rear of the pub. Food, prepared on the premises, from homemade scotch eggs with runny yolks through to bread 'n' butter pudding - details of menus and opening times can be found on their website. The menu changes with the seasons. Over 21's only (unless accompanied by parent).

Payment by card only.

Lovely venue with indoor and outdoor seating with choice of shade or sun. All the staff were helpful and friendly, in particular Aggy who made sure we enjoyed our visit. The roast pork loin was moist and tender and a good balance of meat, fat and crackling. Everything was well cooked. The Yorkshire pudding was a bit dry but was fine when soaked in gravy. My wife found her chicken roast a bit bland but from what I tasted it was ok for a typical English roast. It did appear to be fried rather than roast though.

Good place to watch football (enclosed indoor & outdoor areas which had large TVs). Outdoor areas had heaters which weren't particularly good. Service wasn't the quickest, but it didn't matter for us - we got a couple of (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) coffees/hot chocolate which were pretty watery. Despite all that, it's spacious and does a decent job for somewhere to watch football - can see myself going back if around the area to try the food.

This is the best Sunday roast I've ever had. It served with wine and they were perfect match. The staff is very friendly and I really enjoyed my lunch.

A very traditional British pub with plenty of seating both inside and outside. The meals are decent, the quality is not always top notch (my roast chicken was utterly dry), but should please those who fancy this kitchen.
