About Jamaica Wine House
Red-stone Victorian pub in pedestrian alley with acres of dark wood panelling (open weekdays only).
Guest beer changes every six weeks. Two bars with real ale on the ground floor only. Old business centre for the Jamaica trade. The original building was burnt down in the Great Fire of London. The pub is part of a red brick and sandstone block rebuilt in 1885 to designs by architect Banister Fletcher (don’t fall for the ‘Built 1652’ notices!). Free House acquired by Shepherd Neame in April 2009.

This is one of my favorite pubs in London, especially knowing it was the site of London’s first coffeehouse back in 1652. Being there, you can truly feel its age and all the history it holds—it’s like stepping back in time. The place has a wonderfully preserved, old-world charm that’s simply captivating. I highly recommend visiting; it’s a must-see during your trip to London, and you won’t regret it. You’ll have an amazing time.

City of London icon steeped in heritage & vintage City boozing. A huge, stately public house in the narrow alleys of the heart of the city of London. Bay, arched & round windows overlook popular alleyway drinking. Victorian beauty is bountiful within under the gloriously highly decorative ceiling panels & paper. The drinking hall is divided into four large City worker hideaways portioned by pannelled wood & glazing. Luxurious high stools, bench tables & bay window seats in ample space & coat hooks amongst the wood panelled walls & decorative pillars. A large bat connects through the hall with…

The Jamaica Wine House is quaint and cozy. The number of people present the night I was there made it very warm inside. We were able to stand outside until 9 pm, but then were asked to come back inside to be respectful of the neighbors. The service was quick and reasonably attentive, but it was so loud and so warm, it was difficult to enjoy the establishment -- at least for me.

Very nice and traditional pub with good selection of craft beers. If you like finding hidden pubs/gems with interesting history you can't miss this one. I'll definitely go there again.

Stellar out of the way place with a business crowd. Historic and pleasant with outdoor hanging. When u think of after work London pubs this is the spot.
