About Mossy Well
Muswell Hill takes its name from a medieval holy well and its hill-top location. The ‘mossy well’ became a place of pilgrimage after a Scottish king was said to have been cured here drinking the water. By the early 1800s, Belle Vue Lodge stood on the site of these premises. In 1900, it was replaced by the Express Dairy tea room, with a milk depot at the rear. In the early 1980s, the property was converted into licensed premises.
Much re-engineered, in 1984 it became a pub under various names, latterly the Village. It was opened by Wetherspoons on 13th October 2015, as the Mossy Well, derived from the etymology of Muswell. It's very spacious inside, with a mezzanine floor and outdoor drinking areas at both front and back. Despite the size it can be packed. Four "house" beers plus up to 8 guests. CAMRA North London Pub of the Season Winter 2016/17.
Following CAMRA's updated definition of "real cider", pubs such as this selling for example Old Rosie and Orchard Pig or other ciders such as Thistly Cross, Stans, Gwynt Y Draig, Broadoak etc. no longer qualify for the "Real cider" tag.

One of the Spoon's Favourite pubs on the Hill.-Tasty food, great prices, best range of drinks. Outstanding service.-Ralph on taps has emense charisma and charm. He, like all other staff, really cares.

Mossy is my favourite place to be for food and drinks-- great deals, unlimited hot drinks, a great range of varieties of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Most impressively is the very friendly and helpful staff that make things work for your satisfaction! For less than £5 I had an "all day brunch afternoon deal" that comes with a hot drink (unlimited refills), swapped chips with a salad for my healthy choice of food. Truly awesome! Highly recommended!

The chicken strips and wings were really bad in taste and quality. However, the place was clean and had plenty of space. We went there for drinks and to play board games, which was great for our purpose.

Great choices of breakfast! Nice free refill with hot drinks ie tea, coffee, hot chocolate, etc. Sarah was awesome in recommending food. She knows the menu! They made a mistake, and gave me my order for free! Very kind and generous. I really appreciate it!

I mean you can’t expect much from spoons but I do enjoy going to one now and again but after the last time I doubt I’ll be revisiting. The place was cramped and the service was very long, staff were rude. Food served incorrectly, I could go on and on. I won’t make too much criticism but I’ll describe what I ordered below and you can see the pictures for yourself, I ordered a well done steak (it came with the primary school mash potato) with gravy and apple crumble with custard. Its laughable
